Dear Fellow and Prospective RVers, Welcome to the wonderful world of RVs! My family started an RV dealership over 40 years ago. It began as a way for my dad to get his family out of a tent and into a pop-up camper, and grew into a multi-million dollar company which my brother and I run today.
Owning an RV can be one of the most rewarding decisions of your life. You just can’t beat the freedom to be where you want, when you want and the ability to keep your RV packed and just jump in and go whenever the mood strikes you. No fears about who slept in that bed last night or who used the bathroom, they’re both yours alone. RVing can make every part of your life more fun. Gather friends for a ball game, a golf outing, or an evening out; the trip will be more fun riding together in your motorhome. Take the kids or grandkids to the shore or to the mountains, or the great wonders of America. Seeing our country is a great gift for your family. I grew up RVing. I loved it & and still do!
Through the years I’ve spent in and around the RV business, I’ve seen many costly, heart-breaking mistakes made. The sad thing is that these mistakes didn’t have to happen. Most RV buying pitfalls can be avoided. I’ve learned most of these lessons the hard way; through day to day experience with the RV business. I hope I can help you benefit from my years of practice.
Buying an RV is a complicated and time-consuming process, which can sometimes be overwhelming. The shopping process is full of confusing contradictions and misleading information. There is plenty of new terminology to learn and understand and many threatening issues to be aware of. You’ll need to do a lot of homework in order to avoid expensive and even catastrophic mistakes. Our RV guide will help you avoid trouble and help the process go smoother and faster. I’m sure it will save you some headaches and some money.
The purpose of the RV Guide is to educate you about how the purchasing process works and make it work for you. You will learn how to avoid common errors RV buyers make; how to discover the most costly defects RVers face; and how to identify and disarm some of the tricks used by unscrupulous RV sellers.
Please don’t get discouraged by the negative side of the process. As this is a publication about avoiding pitfalls, a focus on negative issues is essential. I believe knowing about potential trouble makes it easier to avoid. If you step back and think about it, I think you’ll realize every purchase you’ve ever made faced similar issues. In many cases, prior knowledge would have allowed you to avoid a problem. That’s my goal here. Keep in mind the end results you want and use this guide to avoid a negative outcome.
I hope you find this RV Guide worthwhile and I welcome your feedback. Please send me your comments and suggestions.
